Linking Steam and Discord is just login, nothing more
If linking your account felt off, this page is for you. Here is exactly what happens, in plain terms, and why we never see your password.
It is the same technology as "Sign in with Google"
Linking uses OAuth, an open standard used by millions of sites for exactly this kind of login: sign in with Google, sign in with Apple, sign in with Steam. When you click link, you leave our site entirely and land on Steam's or Discord's own login page, at their own real domain. You type your password there, on their site, not ours.
Once you approve the login, Steam or Discord sends us back a token, not your password. A token only lets us ask for the specific pieces of information listed below. We physically never receive your password at any point in this process, because you never type it into anything we control.
What we actually get
- From Steam: your Steam ID, public profile name and avatar. Nothing else, and never your password or payment details.
- From Discord: your Discord ID, username, avatar, and your roles or membership in our own Discord server. Nothing from your other servers or direct messages.
Why we ask for it
- To know it is really you across the site, our Discord and our servers, so your rank, clan and purchases follow your account.
- To apply moderation fairly: bans, mutes and reports need to be tied to a real, verified identity, not a name that can be typed in by anyone.
- To deliver store rewards and Discord perks (like syncing roles for a purchased rank) automatically instead of manually.
What actually happens when you click link
You are redirected
Clicking link sends your browser to steamcommunity.com or discord.com, the real login pages, not a copy hosted by us.
You log in there
Your password, and any two-factor code, is entered on their site and checked by them. We are never shown it and never store it.
You are sent back
Steam or Discord returns you to our site along with a token authorizing us to read the limited profile data listed above.
Unlinking
You can unlink Steam or Discord from your profile settings whenever you want. Unlinking immediately stops us reading anything further from that account. Some records tied to your account, such as your match history and any past moderation actions, are kept as explained in our Privacy Policy, so that, for example, a ban cannot be erased just by unlinking. If you linked the wrong Steam account by mistake, unlink and link the correct one; this is expected and handled fine.
Why this is safe
- We cannot see or reset your Steam or Discord password. It is never sent to us.
- We cannot post, message or purchase anything on your behalf on Steam or Discord.
- Revoking access from your Steam or Discord account settings works instantly, even if you forget to unlink here first.
- The same login flow is used by major, long-established platforms; it is a standard, not something specific or unusual to us.
